Mucum syrup is used to treat a variety of ailments, including acute sore throats, thick mucus coughs, and chronic and acute bronchopulmonary problems linked to aberrant mucus output.  There are additional uses for mucum syrup that are not covered in this medicine guide.  Ambroxol is an active component in mucum syrup.  Mucum syrup has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and local anesthetic properties in addition to encouraging mucus clearance.
